It
is rare to find the kind of passion for both God, and His
children, as is found in the heart and ministry of Aidan Scannell.
With a simplistic approach to sharing The Gospel of Jesus Christ;
with the sincere intent of bringing grace-filled healing to the
hearts of the listeners, and; with the anointed inspiration of the
Holy Spirit, the fruit of Aidan's ministry is great.
Aidan
was born in Dublin; Ireland where his gift of music was expressed
by playing drums for a # 1 Irish pop band, The Bye-laws. On a tour
to Canada, Aidan fell in love with the country and decided to make
it his home. By the end of the '70s Aidan felt a strong pull into
the priesthood. The result of this pull was that Aidan was the
first residential volunteer for the highly revered St. Ignatius
Farm Community in Guelph, ON. - a peaceful and loving environment
for developmentally challenged adults, as well as short term
housing for other people in need. It was on this beautiful, serene
land that Aidan wrote his first song, and some years later it
became the title track for his first CD, "Walking Beside
Him".
In
the mid 80's, with help from his spiritual director and his
beloved Roman Catholic Church, Aidan soon understood that his gift
of music was to be used as an evangelistic tool to lead people to
Christ. Over the years, Aidan has raised thousands of dollars for
Canadian Food For Children, a charity founded by Dr. Andrew Simone
at the request of Mother Teresa, which sends used clothing,
bicycles and food to Third World countries. A portion of all CD
sales for "Walking Beside Him" will be donated to this
worthy cause.
In
1987 Aidan married Breeda and they are loving parents to two
wonderful boys.
