Foxhoven Family
Singers

How did this family of twelve begin a singing ministry which has led them all over the country? As Arlene tells it, music was always a part of her life. Her early years in the Midwest included working at WNAX Radio and touring with different bands. She met her husband, Henry, while singing in a nightclub. After they were married, Henry and Arlene sang together on weekends while he was teaching and they were raising their family. The devastating loss of their fourth child in childbirth brought about a strengthening of the values and devotions they already shared, especially a strong devotion to Mary and the Eucharist. As they began to recognize the musical talents of their children, their singing led them away from secular music and into family and faith-oriented concerts in churches.

A disability left Henry confined to a wheelchair forcing him to retire from his teaching profession, so they decided to make their growing singing ministry a full-time occupation. Homeschooling was a reasonable step after this decision as Henry was able to put to use his teaching skills while the family was on tour.

The Foxhoven's music features variety for the whole family; from traditional hymns to upbeat original songs. The harmonious blend of their voices creates a unique style pervaded by a beautiful simplicity and prayerfulness. Many of their songs come from their own experience and spirituality. They teach the truths of the Catholic Faith through their music and also have written many songs about the saints and our Blessed Mother. Joining Henry and Arlene in concert and on their recordings are their children, Christopher, Jeremiah, Anna Marie, and John Paul. Married daughter, Michelle, her husband, Milan Sherman, and their children, Michael, Regina, Dominic, and Gabriel join the group when possible.

Through the years, the Foxhoven's ministry has taken them across the country, from California to New York, from Canada to Mexico. Since moving to Steubenville, they have been privileged to give concerts at parishes in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and New York.
