Bert Hill, a
native Californian, spent his early life devoted to music, martial
arts and aviation. Bert credits his fantastical childhood
experiences to his parents and the generosity of John Lennon.
Bert's father (Hill) was Lennon's chauffeur in Los Angeles (1970)
and it was Lennon who made it possible for Hill to start his own
limousine company. With his father driving LA¹s jet-set of the
seventies and his own accomplishments in music and martial arts at
such a young age, Bert was exposed to incredible experiences that
he considers to be a unique part of his musical foundation.
In 1977, Bert formed the musical group "Image" and has been
performing his original works ever since.
A graduate from Arizona State University (1988) he did further
work in Sociology with Professor Michelle Mafesoli at the Sorbonne
in Paris. He returned to the U.S. and graduated from The American
Academy of Dramatic Arts (1991).
In 1991 Bert founded the musical group St. Surreal (with Preston
Clarke). St. Surreal performed Bert's original works and recorded
"At Sixes and Sevens". In the ten years St. Surreal was together
they received commercial and college radio play, toured
nationally, self-produced the film short "Alma Mater" and sold
albums at performances, in retail stores and on the internet.
In 1999 Bert began work on his first solo album "Ordinary Time"
which was recorded in 2001 and is now available on the Internet.
Bert is currently a candidate for a Master's Degree in Theology at
Loyola Marymount University. He volunteers as a teacher of adult
and children's religious education at St. Francis of Assisi in Los
Angeles, California.
